Four games in, Sanchez on the mark

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Let's stop for a moment and absorb Mark Sanchez's season a quarter of the way through the schedule.

Sanchez didn't have to do much in Sunday's simple 38-14 destruction of the Buffalo Bills in Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Still, he had a nice day: 14-of-24 for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

The second-year pro has completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions. He hasn't fumbled either.

He has a 105.3 passer rating for the season. He eclipsed that in a game once last year, and barely.

Sanchez has distributed the ball pretty well. Four targets have double-digit catches. Three have touchdowns.

That's without his best receiver, Santonio Holmes, on the field. Holmes will return from a four-game suspension this week.

Maybe part of the reason the Jets' passing game has been so sharp was the extra work they put in over the summer. ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols attended Jets West Camp, the workout summit Sanchez staged for him and his receivers at his old high school over the summer.

Here's a snippet of Nichols' "E:60" piece on the camp:
