Greetings from rainy Miami Gardens

By Tim Graham

MIAMI -- Rain is falling and flags are flapping in Sun Life Stadium.

Stormy weather could be a factor for Sunday's big AFC match between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins here.

But at least it won't be a mud bath if it continues to rain. The field looks great for the first time all season, with the Florida Marlins' infield covered with richly green grass that isn't patchwork and temporary like three weeks ago.

The Miami Hurricanes beat the North Carolina Tar Heels on this field Saturday night, but it looks no worse for wear.

The Weather Channel's forecast for the 1 p.m. kickoff is 85 degrees with 65 percent humidity and winds blowing up to 16 mph. The chance of a thunderstorm is 40 percent for much of the afternoon.

Since violent hits have been such an issue this week, and everyone will be keeping an eye on Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison, the referee will be Gene Steratore. His crew has called roughing the passer three times, personal fouls twice, unnecessary roughness once and unsportsmanlike conduct once this season.
