Three AFC East teams are bowl-eligible
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- It's still bowl season for AFC East coaching staffs.
The New England Patriots drew a Pro Bowl assignment for losing Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
It used to be conference championship losers coached in the Pro Bowl. Now that the game takes place the Sunday between the conference finals and the Super Bowl, more time is needed to organize.
Bill Belichick probably has never been less thrilled with a free trip to Hawaii. I wonder if coaching staffs can "fail an exit physical" like some players do when they want to skip out of the Pro Bowl. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hinted on his weekly interview with Boston radio station WEEI that would be the case with his right shoulder.
"It's definitely not where we want to be, but we'll go out there and do it," Belichick said at Monday's post-mortem news conference.
Asked if he would do any free-agency scouting in Honolulu, Belichick smiled.
"Based on the level and tempo of those practices, I think that would be minimal," Belichick said. "I'll scout the golf."
The Buffalo Bills accepted an invitation to coach the Senior Bowl. The college all-star game is Jan. 29 in Mobile, Ala.
One more Jets victory would put them in the Super Bowl.
What bowl would you say the Miami Dolphins are in?
And don't say the Toilet Bowl. People stopped thinking that reference was funny when we were 7.
