Buffalo tops AFC East in RB rankings
How would you rate the AFC East's running backs?
Scouts Inc. analyst Matt Williamson gave his take in his weekly Scouts Eye column .
Williamson slots them in this order: Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.
He almost apologizes for ranking Fred Jackson the best back in the division, but so did I when ESPN.com put together its positional Power Rankings five weeks ago. Williamson also foresees C.J. Spiller being a weapon in Chan Gailey's offense next season. Maybe.
Williamson notes the Patriots' top-notch blocking and offensive scheme enhance what BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead can do, making them look better than they would be in other systems.
Shonn Greene's limited receiving skills hurt the Jets' backfield, and Williamson's not a big LaDainian Tomlinson fan anymore, writing: "If I had a Hall of Fame vote, Tomlinson would get my approval for that illustrious honor the minute he was eligible. But right now, I see a player who is a fraction of what he once was."
The Dolphins are one big asterisk with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams both unsigned and the lockout preventing free agency from commencing.
