Fred Jackson says calf 'alright'
By James Walker
MIAMI -- Buffalo Bills fans held their collective breath when star tailback Fred Jackson went down with a calf injury in the second half on Sunday. Jackson didn't return to the game but said following the Bills' 35-8 loss to the Dolphins that he's optimistic the injury isn't significant.
"I will be alright," Jackson said. "It's just a bruise right now. So we will get some treatment on it next week and see what happens."
Jackson's status for next Sunday's game against the New York Jets (5-5) is still to be determined. But the Bills (5-5) will need Jackson in this likely playoff elimination game.
Jackson suffered the injury after his leg got tangled up in the third quarter. He was rendered ineffective for one of the few times this season, rushing for just 17 yards on seven carries.
Buffalo's offense has scored just 26 points the past three games.
"Nobody is more frustrated than us on the offensive side of the ball," Jackson said. "We have to make plays. We haven't made plays for a while. I think that's the No. 1 thing. We have to step up and make the plays on offense."
