QBR: Mark Sanchez outshines Tom Brady
By James Walker
It was a great week and an awful week for the AFC East quarterbacks. There was no in between when it came to the performances of Tom Brady, Mark Sanchez, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Tannehill.
Here is a look at the Week 1 QBR for quarterbacks in the division:
It was interesting to note that Sanchez set a career high with a 97.1 QBR. This was Sanchez’s most efficient performance in a while. His only mistake was an ill-advised interception where he should have ran the ball out of bounds.
Brady was efficient, throwing for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Barring injury, expect Brady to be near the top of the rankings all season.
You just never know what you're going to get from Fitzpatrick. "Bad Fitzpatrick" showed up in the season opener, where he threw for 195 yards, three interceptions and three touchdowns in the second half when the game was already in hand.
It was a rough day for Tannehill in his regular-season debut. The rookie had the second-lowest QBR in the NFL in Week 1. Tannehill (3.1) scored slightly higher than Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden (1.2).
