Tebow ribbed by Jets over Vogue spread
By Jane McManus
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Tim Tebow has already heard the jokes from Jets teammates about his spread in Vogue magazine. They could practically be recycled from Mark Sanchez's GQ spread, just substitute the words “white pants” with “gigantic tire.”
“Yeah, Bart (Scott) is usually the loud one about stuff like this,” Tebow said. “It’s pretty funny.”
The opening shot of Tebow from the Annie Leibovitz shoot shows a -- what did you expect? -- shirtless Tebow rolling a tire up rocky terrain. There is a lot for a comedian like Scott to work with in that kind of a situation. For starters, how did he get the giant tire to his house? Tebow wasn't exactly sure.
“Bart’s just probably upset he wasn’t in it, in Vogue,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “That will be next maybe.”
Tebow said he hasn’t seen most of the photos or read the article, in which he discusses what he’s looking for in a woman.
“There is definitely a lot more than just looks for me, which is pretty evident in who I am,” Tebow said. “It’s a lot more than that. It has to be a lot deeper than that as well.”
A reporter asks for clarification on looking for a woman with a “servant’s heart.”
“It’s something that it’s not all about them,” Tebow said. “It’s someone that can put others first, someone that doesn’t always have to be the center of attention and someone that’s a helper. Someone that puts their family first, is loving, is caring, all those things, that’s what I mean by servant.”
When Sanchez was a rookie, he posed for a GQ spread. After the issue was printed, digital copies of the photos showed up on all the digital screens at the facility, and in team meetings. Tebow said nothing like that has happened to him. Yet.
