Rex Ryan: Jets tired, not quitting
By James Walker
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan (sort of) went to bat for his team's poor performance in last weekend's 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
According to Ryan, New York's defense was tired, not quitting.
"I think we wore down a little bit at the end of the game," Ryan told reporters Wednesday. "There's no quit. You look at that tape and there's no quit."
Well, I'm glad we cleared all that up.
Either way, the Jets got their butts kicked. If they were tired, then the Jets are behind on their conditioning, and that's yet another issue to fix.
San Francisco cornerback Carlos Rogers accused the Jets' defense of quitting this week. New York trailed 10-0 at halftime, but things snowballed as its offense failed to produce any points.
Ryan says the Jets were fatigued. The opposing team says the Jets quit.
Neither situation is good.
