AFC East Player of the Week
By James Walker
It was an exciting weekend for the division with several great individual performances.
So who is the AFC East Player of the Week?
New York Jets tailback Shonn Greene tore it up in a win over the Indianapolis Colts. Greene rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns, as “ground and pound” returned to New York. Was it the best performance of the weekend?
What about the consistent Wes Welker? The New England Patriots Pro Bowl receiver continues to put up numbers and added another 10 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. Welker is showing that he still has it. Is he the AFC East Player of the Week?
Or was it Miami Dolphins rookie defensive end Olivier Vernon? He continues to get better and recorded two sacks in a win over the St. Louis Rams. Vernon was injured in the game and came back to record a big fourth-quarter sack to help seal the win for the Dolphins.
Finally, we have Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd. He’s consistently around the football and picked off two passes against the Arizona Cardinals. Byrd’s pick in overtime set up Buffalo’s game-winning field goal.
