Texans players, owner talk Patriots
By James Walker
HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans earned a return date with the reigning AFC Champion New England Patriots next weekend.
Things didn't go so well for Houston against the Patriots in Week 14. New England trounced the Texans, 42-14, at Gillette Stadium.
How confident are the Texans in their return trip to Foxborough? Here's a collection of quotes on the Patriots from Houston's locker room:
Texans DE J.J. Watt: "I can tell you right now we actually do have to beat those guys to be a Super Bowl-worthy team. But it’s a great challenge, it’s a very good team. They know what they’re doing in the playoffs. They’ve been here so many times before. They know what it takes so it’s going to take everything we have and we’re excited about that challenge.”
Texans RB Arian Foster: “I have a lot of respect for them but we can play ball, too. We didn’t play our best football up there and we hurt ourselves with penalties and mistakes. Anytime you give them opportunities, they’ll take advantage of them. But we’ll play our best up there.”
Texans QB Matt Schaub: “To have to go up there and play a month ago, we know what situation we’re going to be in. We know what the stadium is like. We know what the crowd is like. We’re going to have to be on our game from start to finish because they make you play 60 minutes to beat them.”
Texans C Chris Myers: “We’re going to look back at that game and obviously see what things worked, what things didn’t work. Obviously with a lot of things that didn’t work -- we didn’t score too many points. It’s one of those things that they’re a very, very hard team to beat up there, especially this time of the year.”
Texans owner Bob McNair: “You know, we just need to play with the same level of intensity that we had [Saturday], and if we do that we’ll do very well. I’m not worried. If we have that kind of intensity we can play with anybody."
