Patriots have one draft pick left to sign
By James Walker
The New England Patriots have signed seventh-round draft pick and defensive end Michael Buchanan, the team announced Tuesday. That leaves just one Patriots draft pick not under contract.
New England can now shift all of its attention to rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson. He was the No. 59 overall pick in the second round and has a chance to compete for a starting job.
There is very little drama with rookie contracts following the latest collective bargaining agreement in 2011, which placed a wage scale on first-year players. Rookies are slotted to make a certain amount based on draft position, and there's not much to negotiate. Look for the Patriots to get Dobson under contract soon, as well.
