Ravens' Torrey Smith rips Patriots fans

By James Walker

This won't go over well in New England Patriots country.

It's no secret that the Patriots and reigning Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens have a rivalry. Both teams have had some heated battles the past several years, which include splitting back-to-back AFC title games following the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

But Ravens receiver Torrey Smith added to the rivalry this weekend by taking it one step further: Smith took the time to rip Patriots fans via Twitter.

Here were the tweets:
RT @MBalsley If you had to pick a hockey team, who you cheering for tonight Boston or Chicago?...CHI I hate everything about NE except KG

— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) June 23, 2013

I understand that every Fan base has bad fans what I'm saying is NE fans have more than others and think they are better than everyone else

Yeah I said it

I'm done responding to fans who confirmed what I originally said...having 1 fan base out of 32 hate you isn't bad...don't need y'all see ya

Add a little more gasoline to the flame in this rivalry thanks to Smith. He also poked fun at Spygate in his Twitter timeline, hinting that New England hasn't won a title since its videotaping controversy. To Smith’s credit, he did say he respects the Patriots' organization but meant what he said about the fans.

The Ravens play the Patriots this season. But it will be in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium, where Smith will not have to face the heckling New England fans.
