MIAMI -- The Miami Dolphins cut nine players Tuesday afternoon in order to get their roster down to 75 players.
The two biggest names were fullback Jorvorskie Lane and guard Lance Louis, whose contract was terminated. Lane was last year's starter but fell behind this year, as Miami went in the direction of having more athletic and versatile players at fullback. He was being outplayed by new fullback Evan Rodriguez, who catches the ball well and brings more value on special teams. Louis had starting experience but didn’t look all the way back from ACL surgery.
Here is the full list of players Miami released on Tuesday:
LB Michael Clay
WR Jeff Fuller
LB David Hinds
FB Jorvorskie Lane
OL Lance Louis
The Dolphins will play their fifth and final preseason game Thursday against the New Orleans Saints. Miami has to cut its roster down to 53 players on Saturday.
