AFC East: Pacman Jones

Green Day: The Jets' list of shame

October, 30, 2013
There's no doubt the New York Jets have exceeded expectations, but one problem that continues to plague the team is penalties.

At the midpoint of the season, the Jets have 65 penalties, tied with the Seattle Seahawks for most in the league. Rex Ryan's team has been penalized 543 yards, the third-highest total -- a staggering amount. Bill Parcells always used to talk about the hidden yardage within a football game. That's a lot of wasted yardage right there, probably the equivalent of four or five touchdowns.

Here are the Jets' most-penalized players: Most frequently called penalties: Offensive holding, 12 for 80 yards (plus four declined); false start, 12 for 61 yards.

ICYMI: As expected, the Jets didn't make any trades before Tuesday's deadline. In fact, they made no roster moves. They worked out two players, T John Wetzel (Raiders) and G Patrick Ford (Jets training camp). Perhaps there's some concern with Colon, who appeared to suffer a rib injury in the last game. ... Time for the midseason report and awards. ... We break down the film of Sunday's 40-point loss to the Bengals, including an up-close look at the David Nelson-Pacman Jones war of words and deeds.
