BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns opened OTAs this week, and head coach Eric Mangini met with media Wednesday.

Here are some notes of interest:

  • Mangini says he's impressed with starting quarterback Jake Delhomme thus far. He compared Delhomme to Brett Favre, in terms of demeanor and leadership in practice. Delhomme is trying to bounce back from an awful season in 2009 with the Carolina Panthers.
  • Browns defensive lineman Shaun Rogers is present but will not practice Wednesday. He's still getting treatment while recovering from a broken leg. The team did not have an update on Rogers' legal situation.
  • Several restricted free agents are skipping OTAs this week, and Mangini's general response was that it's voluntary. He deferred most of the business side and contract talk to the front office.
  • The team will continue to look at adding a veteran receiver, according to Mangini. He says that position and several others on the roster remain a "work in progress."
  • Here are some rookie numbers at OTAs for those interested: Colt McCoy is No. 12, Joe Haden is No. 40, Montario Hardesty is No. 31, Cliff Geathers is No. 97, Shawn Lauvao is No. 66 and Carlton Mitchell is No. 18.
