Washington leaves Pittsburgh for Tennessee

Former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Nate Washington has agreed to sign with the Tennessee Titans, according to the Nashville City Paper. Terms of the deal have yet to be released.

Washington's first choice was to stay in Pittsburgh, but the Steelers didn't make a push for him in free agency. He visited the Detroit Lions and eventually settled with the Titans, where he will have a chance to play for an AFC contender.

For the Steelers, this means the No. 3 receiver is currently 2008 draft pick Limas Sweed, who struggled with his few opportunities last season. Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Bruce Arians likes to run a lot of three-receiver sets and may want to bring in a veteran to push and compete with Sweed in training camp.

(Update: ESPN.com senior writer John Clayton reports Washington's deal is for six years, $27 million.)
