CLEVELAND -- Brett Favre, meet the Dawg Pound.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback will be at Browns Stadium Thursday night when Cleveland host the New York Jets in the preseason opener for both teams. Favre has a press conference scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
Favre will not play in the game, but he will watch and meet his new teammates for the first time before taking over as New York's starting quarterback for the 2008 season.
This adds spice to an otherwise bland preseason game. The starters will only play a portion of the first half, and neither the Browns nor the Jets have many key position battles.
The main competition in New York was its pending quarterback battle between Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennington, but the acquisition of Favre put that to rest. It also punched Pennington a ticket out of town as the Jets will either trade or release their former starting quarterback.
Now it's all about Favre in New York, who will get his first taste of life as a Jet in Cleveland later tonight.
