Kaye Cowher, the wife of former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, died Friday after battling skin cancer, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. She was 54.
The couple met in 1976 while attending North Carolina State. Both she and her twin sister, Faye, played basketball and helped the team win the Atlantic Coast Conference's first women's title in 1978.
She and Bill Cowher married in 1981 and have three daughters Meagan, Lauren, and Lindsay. All three followed their mother's footsteps into Division I college basketball.
