Here are the most interesting stories Tuesday in the AFC North:

  • Things are starting off better for Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini in his second season.
Morning take: Stability at quarterback is one major improvement. Players also better understand the second year of Mangini's program.

  • Rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle, who recently fractured his skull, will join the Baltimore Ravens by early September.
Morning take: This is good progress for Kindle. He will not return to the field any time soon, but at least he will be under the team's supervision.
Morning take: The fifth-round pick had his best preseason game last week with a sack against the New York Giants. Pittsburgh has several tough decisions to make on its 53-man roster.

  • Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive lineman Geno Atkins is turning heads.
Morning take: The Bengals may have found a mid-round gem. Atkins is leading the team in tackles (13) and sacks (3.5).
