Remember this past weekend's lively "take your pick" discussion involving the AFC North against the NFC North?
Well, things could become a lot more challenging if future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre enters the equation.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder have an excellent and informative report stating Favre recently had arthroscopic shoulder surgery, which could eventually lead to a comeback this season with the Minnesota Vikings.
Favre would make his Vikings regular-season debut on the road against the Cleveland Browns Sept. 13. The interesting story line there would be Favre facing his former coach Eric Mangini, who also will be coaching his first game with Cleveland. Both were with the New York Jets last season.
Minnesota, which was No. 14 in ESPN.com's latest power rankings, would certainly be more imposing with a key addition at quarterback. Therefore, a team like the Favre-led Vikings would be a serious threat to AFC North playoff hopefuls as it is expected to be another close, competitive race this year within the division.
