ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting quarterback Dennis Dixon will miss at least the next three weeks with a torn meniscus in his left knee. That means Dixon likely will not return until October and possibly after franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is back in Steeler uniform.
On Monday, Pittsburgh re-signed quarterback Byron Leftwich, who is in the running to start in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite a MCL injury. Charlie Batch is the only healthy quarterback and threw for 25 yards in a victory over the Tennessee Titans.
The Steelers (2-0) are playing lights out on defense and are one of several surprise undefeated teams through the first two weeks. Roethlisberger will return on Oct. 17 against the Cleveland Browns.
