Morning take: Mendenhall gets help

October, 6, 2010
Here are the most interesting stories Wednesday in the AFC North:

  • The return of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger should help starting tailback Rashard Mendenhall.
Morning take: Mendenhall is already off to a great start. He's second in the NFL with 411 rushing yards. But now he should see less defenders in the box with Roethlisberger under center.

  • Baltimore Ravens backup defensive lineman Paul Kruger will miss two weeks with a knee injury.
Morning take: Kruger was just making his way back before his second injury of the season. Although the play didn't count, he flashed some ability with a nice strip and sack of Pittsburgh quarterback Charlie Batch.

  • Here is a look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1), the Cincinnati Bengals' next opponent.
Morning take: Tampa was one of the NFL's early surprises and is coming off a bye. With the way the Bengals are playing lately, they can't afford to look past anyone.
Morning take: Roth has been solid from the time he joined the Browns. He's hard to move in the running game and had two sacks in last week's win over Cincinnati.
