Will Bengals re-sign Henry in 2010?

Mr. Jones from Ohio asked an interesting question this week in our AFC North inbox. He wanted to know the future of receiver Chris Henry and the interest level of the Cincinnati Bengals beyond this season.

Like most things in the NFL, a lot will be determined by Henry's play this season. Henry is in a contract year, and has done and said all the right things in an attempt to put forth a solid season. If that happens, it will naturally increase his value.

Henry has done a solid job of staying focused. At the same time, he didn't show much on the field after his four-game suspension with just 19 catches for 220 yards and two touchdowns. So Henry knows performance will be important, and that's a major reason he's put so much work in this offseason.

But any team that signs Henry will have to keep in mind that any future infraction off the field could lead to an indefinite suspension. That may hurt his long-term value to some degree as a free agent, whether it is with the Bengals or another team.
