BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns veteran quarterbacks Seneca Wallace (ankle) and Jake Delhomme (ankle) are not practicing Wednesday, which means rookie Colt McCoy will take first-team reps in the first major practice this week in preparation for the New England Patriots (6-1).

Browns (2-5) coach Eric Mangini said in his news conference that it doesn't mean McCoy is guaranteed to be the starter. Mangini will have a discussion with Cleveland president Mike Holmgren about his quarterback situation and won't make a decision until later in the week.

Wallace has the best chance of the two veteran quarterbacks to make it back by Sunday's game. But McCoy running the show Wednesday gives him the inside track. He went 1-1 in two starts against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints.
