Someone should tell New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan that it's still the preseason. The former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator is in rare form leading up to next week's exhibition clash between the Ravens and Jets.

| Jets coach Rex Ryan had some choice words for his former team. |
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Ryan threw several barbs in Baltimore's direction Monday. Ryan started by saying he was the right guy for the Ravens' job all along when it opened one year ago.
"I throw it out there because I'm just being real. Of course, I always think it's BS," Ryan said. "I always thought I was the right guy for the job."
Ryan also says he's looking forward to coaching against John Harbaugh, who is the person who got the job over Ryan last year.
"Just like anything else, you want to compete against your friends," Ryan said. "Those players I've been with 10 years. I respect John. But I respect my brother, too, and I want to kick his [butt]."
The final jab went to a rookie Ryan never coached in Baltimore. He questioned why the Ravens would give No. 99, which was worn by former Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary, to second-round pick Paul Kruger.
"I'm disappointed they gave his jersey to some rookie who hasn't proven [expletive], excuse my language," said Ryan.
Wow!
Ryan is fired up. Does he even realize this Aug. 24 meeting means nothing in the standings?
Ryan also added he'd love for the Jets to play the Ravens in the postseason. Based on his comments leading up to this exhibition, I have no idea what level of smack-talking Ryan would have for his former team if something was actually at stake.
