Eric Mangini's regular-season debut with the Cleveland Browns just got a lot more interesting.
Various reports, including ESPN's Chris Mortensen, state Favre plans to come out of retirement and sign with Minnesota. This is happening just weeks after Favre spurned the Vikings, who will begin their season in Cleveland on Sept. 13.
They have now become a sideshow in their own home opener. The rebuilding Browns also face a more dangerous opponent, thanks to Favre.
With tailback Adrian Peterson in the backfield, Minnesota was already a playoff contender entering the season. Now the Vikings are better offensively, because Favre will provide a significant upgrade in the passing game over Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson.
Eric Mangini coached Favre last season with the New York Jets and now has a lot more to think about. It's not the kind of news the Browns wanted to hear on a random Tuesday.
