Here are the most interesting storylines in the AFC North:

Morning take: First, Flacco is out of the competition. Now, he's back in. Do the Ravens know the season starts Sept. 7? Time is running out.

  • Speaking of starting quarterbacks, the Cincinnati Bengals confirmed Carson Palmer broke his nose in Saturday's 13-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Morning take: At least he couldn't smell the stench coming from Paul Brown Stadium this weekend.

  • According to Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, defensive end Aaron Smith is the one player the Steelers can't do without.

Morning take: Without a doubt, Smith is important. But there are several more players this headline could've been used for, starting with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu.

  • Jarrett Bell of USA Today expects a big year out of Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers.
