CLEVELAND -- The most prevalent reaction in the Browns’ locker room Wednesday was no reaction.
“We’re just out there continuing still to battle and get everything better for this team and prepare for this game,” Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn said.
The Browns are pulling out all the stops to maintain the quarterback mystery in Cleveland.
Coach Eric Mangini notified both Quinn and Derek Anderson Tuesday night of who will start Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. You can read the full story here.
Neither Quinn nor Anderson offered much insight on the decision. It was obvious both players were briefed not to reveal anything on the situation.
While all the attention is on the quarterbacks, the rest of the locker room was somewhat loose. No one gave details, but there were several jokes as the media prodded different players.
“Anyone wants to know who the starting quarterback is? I’ll give it to you,” yelled one player to the media jokingly.
Toward the end of the locker room period, I even went over to third-string quarterback Brett Ratliff and asked his thoughts on this unique situation. Ratliff played along.
“I might be the starter,” said Ratliff, smiling. “You never know.”
It will be interesting to see how this story develops during the week.
