The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed embattled running back Cedric Benson to a reported one-year contract with a base salary of $3 million this week. In our latest edition of "Poll Friday," we want to know if this was a good idea or bad idea for Cincinnati.
Benson is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Bengals. New offensive coordinator Jay Gruden wants a power running game and made signing Benson a priority. Because of off-the-field trouble, the Bengals also signed Benson to a much shorter contract.
But Benson's recent arrest on an assault charge in Texas also puts him in line for a possible suspension if he is found guilty. With a rookie quarterback (Andy Dalton) starting, the Bengals need their running back in the lineup. Should the Bengals have spent their money elsewhere?
Using our SportsNation poll, vote on whether signing Benson was a good move. You can also share your thoughts in the comments section below.
