Now we see why Cincinnati Bengals tailback Cedric Benson served an early jail sentence for two assault charges in Austin, Texas.
Benson was released just five days into a 20-day sentence for good behavior and cooperation. Benson's lawyer said the running back shaved days off his sentence by mopping floors and helping paint crews.
The good news for the Bengals is Benson will be ready for Cincinnati's Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns. He also will get a full week of preparation, which was in doubt when Benson started his jail sentence.
Benson has run well this preseason. Now he should have a clear head with his legal issues behind him.
