The Bengals' Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are making their case for being the best rookie quarterback-receiver tandem of the Super Bowl era.

They already have the fourth-most touchdowns among rookie quarterback-receiver duos since 1970. Dalton and Green have connected for five touchdowns and need only five more to set a new mark.

This comes during a year in which Dalton and Green were unable to practice in offseason workouts because of the NFL lockout.

“We do have some pretty good chemistry for just being around each other for a couple months,” Dalton said. “We're getting more and more comfortable with each other, me knowing where he is, how he is coming out of his breaks and just different things like that. It's just really fun to go out there and see it in practice and see how we're getting better each game.”

Green, the fourth overall pick in the draft, leads NFL rookies in receptions (41), receiving yards (635) and touchdown receptions (six). Dalton, the 35th overall pick, has thrown 14 touchdowns, the most by a rookie through nine games since the 1970 merger.

“I feel like if you come in and put the work in, you are going to be successful,” Green said. “We’ve done that and have a real good feeling about each other on the field.”
