As expected, Baltimore Ravens linebacker and special-teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo is out for the 2009 season. The team officially placed him on injured reserve Tuesday afternoon with a quad/thigh injury.
The Ravens re-signed linebacker Prescott Burgess off the New England Patriots' practice squad. Burgess was originally traded to New England earlier this season, then released by the Patriots.
Ayanbadejo will be a significant loss. His versatility made him the team’s best player on special team as well as a valuable contributor on defense. Ayanbadejo had one start this season and was second on the Ravens with 22 tackles, in addition to one sack and one interception.
