The Cincinnati Bengals finally didn’t have a game come down to the last possession. But it wasn’t the type of outcome they expected.
Quarterback Matt Schaub was on fire, leading the Houston Texans to a 28-17 victory over the Bengals. Schaub had a field day against Cincinnati’s normally solid pass defense, throwing for 392 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Houston (3-3) had a pair of 100-yard receivers in Andre Johnson (135 yards) and tailback Steven Slaton (102).
The game broke a four-game winning streak for the Bengals (4-2), who remain in first place in the AFC North via a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2). The Bengals are 1-2 this season against teams outside the AFC North.
Cincinnati will host the Chicago Bears at Paul Brown Stadium next week.
