Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has had a challenging time adjusting to a new offense this offseason.
But that won't be the biggest change for him this year. Roethlisberger announced over the weekend that wife Ashley are expecting a son later this year.
"Ashley and I are proud to let you all know that we are expecting a baby boy later this year!," Roethlisberger posted on his official Facebook page. "It is truly a blessing and we are so excited!"
This has been a busy year for the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. He turned 30 on March 2. He graduated from Miami of Ohio last month. Now, he is becoming a father.
I believe Roethlisberger is settling down, taking on responsibility off the field and maturing. This doesn't seem like the same player who was badly injured in a motorcycle accident while riding without a helmet. He also seems to have changed his ways since his 2010 suspension which stemmed from a sexual assault investigation.
Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher said last year that he believes Roethlisberger is a late bloomer in terms of maturity. "There's no question as a player he's always been a great player," Cowher said. "But there's a lot more to this professionally than that. It's how you carry yourself off the field. I think he realizes that now. I really think you're going to see a different person."
Roethlisberger's actions the past two years have proven that.
