Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month, becoming the first Cincinnati player to win this award in seven seasons.
He led the AFC in receptions (27), was second in receiving yards (428) and tied for most touchdowns (three) among conference receivers.
“We’ve known from the start that we are coaching a player with truly superior ability,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. “A.J. was the most impressive rookie I’ve ever been around, and his desire to continue getting better and be a team player is just as impressive. We congratulate him on this honor.”
The last Bengals player to win offensive player of the month was quarterback Carson Palmer in September 2005. Kicker Mike Nugent, who was the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September 2010, was the last Cincinnati player to be receive player of the month honors.
