The Pittsburgh Steelers released former Boise State quarterback Jared Zabransky, the team announced Wednesday.

Zabransky was a three-year starter in college but had little chance of making the team with Pittsburgh's crowded field of quarterbacks that include starter Ben Roethlisberger, veteran backup Charlie Batch and rookie fifth-round pick Dennis Dixon already on the roster.

The Steelers also signed international player Marvin Allen, who played for NFL Europe's Rhein Fire last season.
