Athletes, guns and the AFC North

OTL: Athletes And Guns (7:41)

Chris Johnson and T.J. Ward have been impacted personally by gun violence, but these NFL players have very different views on gun ownership. (7:41)

ESPN's "Outside The Lines" put together an intriguing segment on athletes and guns, featuring two AFC North players.

Ravens cornerback Chris Johnson and Browns safety T.J. Ward both lost loved ones to gun violence and both have tattoos to remember them by. But Johnson and Ward have differing views on gun ownership.

Johnson says he has 12 guns and puts one in nearly every room of his house. Ward, though, doesn't believe athletes need guns to protect themselves.

Gun violence has become a hot topic in the NFL since Jovan Belcher died on Dec. 1, 2012, in a murder-suicide, killing his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins, before driving to the Chiefs' training facility and shooting himself in the head with a hand gun.
