CINCINNATI -- As they begin winding down their practices ahead of Monday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals upgraded linebacker Vontaze Burfict on Friday from limited to full participation.

The second-year player hurt his right last Sunday at Chicago when he took a hard shot to the leg from an opponent's helmet at the end of an interception return. After being evaluated on the field for several minutes, he was helped to the sideline. By the next defensive series, he was back on the field and finished the game.

Burfict told reporters right after the game and on Thursday afternoon that he would be good to go Monday.

Along with Burfict's full participation, left offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth was back dressed Friday afternoon and practiced in a limited capacity for the second straight day. Whitworth didn't practice at all last week as he fought through a knee injury that has slowed him since preseason camp. On Wednesday, the Pro Bowl lineman admitted to reporters that during the preseason, he aggravated an injury that originally was operated on early in the offseason. Trainers have been patient with him to avoid further injury.

Coach Marvin Lewis has said for much of the week that Whitworth has an opportunity to play this weekend, but Lewis hasn't announced a decision.

Ccornerback Brandon Ghee (concussion) also was downgraded Friday from limited participation in Thursday's workout to non-participation.
