Power Rankings: No. 16 Baltimore Ravens

December, 31, 2013
A weekly examination of the Ravens' ESPN.com Power Ranking:

Preseason: 8 | Last Week: 14 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002

A season ago, the Baltimore Ravens were sitting atop the football world. This season, the Ravens finished the defense of their Super Bowl title right in the middle of the pack of the Power Rankings. At 8-8, the Ravens completed their worst season in the six-year John Harbaugh-Joe Flacco era, and not coincidentally, closed out with their worst end-of-season Power Ranking.

This is just the second time since 2008 that the Ravens have finished a season outside the top 10 in the Power Rankings. Their previous worst showing under Harbaugh was No. 11 in 2009, when the Ravens were 9-7. To make matters worse, the Ravens finished two spots behind their AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ouch.

As one of the Power Rankings voters, I had the Ravens at No. 16 as well. As far as the AFC North goes, the Cincinnati Bengals remained at No. 7 because everyone ahead of them won, the Steelers climbed four spots to No. 14 and the Cleveland Browns stayed at No. 28 because everyone behind them lost.
