Morning take: Ryan beats Flacco for ROY

Here are the most interesting stories Wednesday in the AFC North:
- Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan wins the 2008 Rookie of the Year award over fellow first-year signal-caller Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens.
Morning take: Ryan had slightly better stats and more responsibility on his shoulders than Flacco. There is nothing wrong with this vote.
- The Cleveland Browns are moving fast this week, as they are expected to bring in former New York Jets coach Eric Mangini for an interview.
Morning take: Mangini has ties with the Browns and experience as a head coach. But Cleveland would be smarter to hire the general manager it wants first (Scott Pioli) before bringing in a head coach.
- Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis believes the absence of star receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Ocho Cinco in offseason workouts hurt their performance this year.
Morning take: I only partially agree. Ocho Cinco was definitely affected but not Houshmandzadeh, who had 92 catches and has skipped offseason programs the past few years.
- Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (concussion) watched practice Tuesday from the sidelines.
Morning take: This will be a daily monitoring of when "Big Ben" will get back on the field. Chalk up one missed practice for the playoffs with a lot more sessions still remaining for Pittsburgh.
