CB McFadden returns to Pittsburgh
By James Walker
As everyone was wondering why the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't take a cornerback in the top half of the draft, the team provided a good response.
The Steelers traded for a familiar face Saturday, acquiring former Pittsburgh starter Bryant McFadden from the Arizona Cardinals for a fifth-round pick (No. 155). The Steelers also got a sixth-round pick (No. 195) in the deal.
Following a Super Bowl season in 2008, McFadden left Pittsburgh after signing a free-agent deal with the Cardinals. The William Gay experiment in Pittsburgh didn't go smooth last year, and after one season, the Cardinals were willing to ship McFadden back to Pittsburgh.
Although it's early, there is a good chance McFadden will go back to his role as the starting cornerback in Pittsburgh. Gay played well in the nickel and could be more comfortable in that spot.
Overall, it was a shrewd move by Pittsburgh to address a position of need.
