Thought of the Day: Browns sleeper?
By James Walker
Recently some of the biggest sleepers in the NFL have come from the AFC North.
Two years ago, it was the Baltimore Ravens led by then-rookie quarterback Joe Flacco, who led his team to the AFC title game. Last season it was the Cincinnati Bengals, who came out of nowhere to sweep the division.
Continuing with that tradition, is this the sleeper year for the Cleveland Browns?
With three teams posting winning records in 2009, Cleveland is the only surprise candidate in the AFC North. Coming off a 5-11 season, expectations are not high for the Browns and new quarterback Jake Delhomme.
But expectations also were low for the '08 Ravens or '09 Bengals, and both teams proved doubters wrong. Under first-year president Mike Holmgren, will the Browns keep the AFC North sleeper streak alive?
