Morning take: Don't doubt the Steelers
By James Walker
Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC North:
Morning take: Everyone is held accountable in the AFC North blog, and admittedly I was one of the critics who thought the Steelers would struggle. Yes, they aren't scoring many points offensively, but the defense is playing so lights out that it doesn't matter.
Morning take: At least I wasn't wrong about the Browns; I can always count on them to struggle early in the season. And looking at their schedule, I don't see many wins on the horizon.
Morning take: Both were judgment calls, but I certainly didn't agree with the roughing the passer flag against Terrell Suggs. I try not to get too deep into officiating, because I think every team deals with bad calls during the course of a season.
- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis described two controversial calls against his team in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals as "B.S."
Morning take: Nugent solidified his spot as Cincinnati's kicker and earned respect in the locker room. Injuries in the preseason nearly cost him a chance to make the team.
- Bengals kicker Mike Nugent was an unsung hero against Baltimore, going 5-for-5 in field goals.
