Steelers lose Maurkice Pouncey early
By James Walker
PITTSBURGH -- The first injury of the AFC title game is a big one, as Steelers Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey suffered an ankle injury.
Pouncey had his leg rolled on from the back by Jets defensive lineman Bryan Thomas during a running play. Pouncey, Pittsburgh's first-round draft pick, immediately went to the ground in pain. He needed several minutes to get help off the field and was eventually rode a cart to the locker room.
The Steelers scored on the next play, which was a 1-yard touchdown run by tailback Rashard Mendenhall. But backup Doug Legursky likely will have to fill in for Pouncey for the remainder of the game.
