AFC North Top 25: 19th-ranked player
By Jamison Hensley
The AFC North blog is continuing its series on the top 25 players in the division with No. 19:
Why Webb is ranked 19th: Few cornerbacks can match the numbers posted by Webb last season. He didn't allow a single touchdown pass in 2011, and opposing quarterbacks posted a miserable 55.6 passer rating on throws into his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. When quarterbacks did throw his way, Webb made them pay, recording eight interceptions (including three in the playoffs) and breaking up 23 passes.
So why isn't Webb ranked higher? Last season was his first full one as a starter. I still feel Jimmy Smith is the most talented cornerback on the Ravens' roster, although I didn't put him on the Top 25 list because he has yet to prove it on the field. The Ravens showed their confidence in Webb, signing the restricted free agent to a six-year, $52 million contract. Webb, who doesn't turn 27 until October, is just hitting his prime.
