Fine Friday: Taylor Mays docked $21,000
By Jamison Hensley
Bengals safety Taylor Mays was fined $21,000 for unnecessary roughness for his helmet to helmet hit on Ravens tight end Ed Dickson.
Mays launched himself into the air and knocked Dickson off his feet. Known for his aggressive play, Mays injured two teammates with hits in preseason games. He struggled in the season opener at Baltimore and ended up splitting time with Jeromy Miles.
The hit on Dickson proved to be an expensive one for Mays. He made $31,764 before taxes for the season opener and now has to pay over 66 percent of it to the league.
Mays was one of three safeties fined $21,000 by the league. Washington's Madieu Williams and Denver's Rahim Moore were the others.
