Polamalu, Woodley ruled out for Steelers
By Jamison Hensley
The Steelers ruled out safety Troy Polamalu and outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley for Thursday night's game against the Titans.
Polamalu aggravated a right calf injury Sunday and left late in the first quarter. This is the third game that Polamalu will miss this season. Since the start of the 2007 season, the Steelers are 9-10 without Polamalu.
Woodley will be sidelined for the first time this year, but the hamstring injury has been bothersome for him. He missed six games last season.
Woodley's injury continues a tough trend for the Steelers. Since the start of the 2011 season, the Steelers have had trouble getting Woodley and James Harrison on the field at the same time. Last season, Woodley and Harrison started five regular-season games together. This year, they were on the field for less than one half before Woodley left Sunday's game with the injury.
Woodley is expected to return for the Steelers' next game, Oct. 21 at Cincinnati.
Harrison (knee), running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) and linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (knee) are probable.
