AFC North Game Balls: Week 6
By Jamison Hensley
We're handing out game balls after Week 6 and this is who's getting them:
OFFENSE: Montario Hardesty, Browns. Cleveland won its first game of the season because its often-criticized second-round pick from a year ago stepped up Sunday. After Trent Richardson left in the game in the third quarter with a rib injury, Hardesty finished off a drive with four consecutive runs, including a spinning 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Browns a fourth-quarter lead and their first lead of the game. Hardesty finished with 56 yards rushing.
DEFENSE: Joe Haden, Browns. This game ball goes beyond what Haden did in terms of statistics. His return from a four-game suspension provided a much-needed spark for the defense. He had seven tackles (second on the team) and broke up three passes (tied for most on the Browns). Haden also had an interception, his second in two games played, which was converted into a field goal.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Jacoby Jones, Ravens. His first game as the Ravens' kickoff returner was a memorable one. Jones gave the Ravens an 11-point cushion in the third quarter (24-13) when he returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown, which tied the longest in NFL history (New England's Ellis Hobbs and Green Bay's Randall Cobb both did this previously).
