AFC North fantasy tipsheet
By Jamison Hensley
Our friends at Football Outsiders do a great job at projecting favorable (and not so favorable) matchups for your fantasy football teams. One player that Football Outsiders predict will have a good game is Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith, who is going against the Raiders:
[The Raiders'] Achilles' heel so far this season has been wideouts just like Smith -- No. 1 options that stretch the field deep. To wit, Oakland is 29th in pass defense DVOA [defense-adjusted value over average] against No. 1 wide receivers, and previous players who have torched them are deep threats like Vincent Jackson, Demaryius Thomas and Mike Wallace.
And here are the position rankings from the fantasy experts at ESPN.com (remember Browns are on a bye):
QUARTERBACKS: The Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger (No. 5), the Bengals' Andy Dalton (No. 14) and the Ravens' Joe Flacco (No. 15).
RUNNING BACKS: The Ravens' Ray Rice (No. 1), the Bengals' BenJarvus Green-Ellis (No. 20) and the Steelers' Isaac Redman (No. 22).
WIDE RECEIVERS: The Bengals' A.J. Green (No. 1), the Steelers' Mike Wallace (No. 12) and the Ravens' Torrey Smith (No. 21).
TIGHT ENDS: The Steelers' Heath Miller (No. 5), the Bengals' Jermaine Gresham (No. 10) and the Ravens' Dennis Pitta (No. 22).
