Friday Forecast: Week 16 predictions
By Jamison Hensley
Three teams are in the playoff hunt. Two weeks left in the regular season. Let's see if I can step up in my predictions. I haven't had a winning record the past two weeks. Here's what I'm thinking will happen Sunday ...
Steelers 27, Bengals 24: For the past month, the Bengals have been the better team. But when these two teams meet, it's a different story. In three games going head-to-head against Andy Dalton, Ben Roethlisberger has a 95.2 passer rating. In those same three games, Dalton has failed to complete half of his passes. Until Dalton can beat the Steelers, I can't pick the Bengals.
Broncos 31, Browns 16: The Broncos are closing in on the No. 2 seed, so there's no chance of a letdown. Based on what you heard out of the Browns' locker room last Sunday, it wouldn't be surprising if the Browns start laying down. It doesn't help Cleveland that Denver is averaging 33 points in its past four home games.
Ravens 23, Giants 20: Both teams are coming off embarrassing losses, and both are desperate for a win. I just can't see the Ravens coming out flat in the final home game of the regular season and losing their third consecutive game at M&T Bank Stadium. A banged-up Ravens defense played better than many expected it would against Peyton Manning last Sunday. Now, Baltimore gets Eli Manning, who has thrown five touchdowns and six interceptions on the road this season.
Week 15 record: 2-2. Season record: 27-17 (.613).
Bengals 34, Eagles 13 (my prediction: Bengals 31, Eagles 20)
Broncos 34, Ravens 17 (my prediction: Ravens 31, Broncos 27)
Redskins 38, Browns 21 (my prediction: Browns 17, Redskins 16)
Cowboys 27, Steelers 24, OT (my prediction: Cowboys 24, Steelers 20)
